Abstract
This short essay describes some practical steps taken by Canadian biotechnology researchers which have helped them progress research projects that might otherwise have been stalled by pre-existing patents.
The Canadian taxpayer paid for canola research and the Canadian farmer has received a tremendous return on investment.
