Abstract
International technology transfer and collaborative research are well known today as highly effective means of acquiring new technologies, however, these activities still require a great deal of effort, strategic planning, and intellectual creativity to help guarantee a successful outcome. Through its endeavors to ensure effective technology transfer, Union Chemical Laboratories (UCL) of the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) has identified certain critical factors for success in project negotiations that could provide a valuable reference guide for other institutes interested in receiving technology transfer from abroad. A case study involving ITRI's recent participation in photoresist technology transfer provides examples of how these tactics may be successfully applied.
